First Frank Frazetta memorial tribute art I see here.

hopefully some of the speed-painter types will have something to say, given that everything they do seems to owe something to frank!

they already had something to say, they just didn't make threads on fa about it yet.

maybe their drawings are being done with a bit more attention to craft than mine. *grin* i guess i wanted to emulate his kinetic, night-before-the-deadline attitude.

I just rewatched the Venture Brothers episode where he is referenced.

I have some tribute stuff in the works as well, but I think yours is particularly poignant - well-done.

it started as "i guess a curvy naked pushy would be appropriate for frazetta", then i nuked that because it wasn't working (she was gonna be sadly dragging a big awesome axe or something but it just wasn't coming together) and slashed in a big chunk of yellow sky. decided to draw the sword planted in the ground, and re-used the figure.

'loose sloppy vector shapes' is probably about as close as i'll ever come to his kinetic oils without a lot of technical trickery.

Very sad :(

they leave the sword out so someone else might take it up ^.^

The signature is a particularly nice touch.

if i'm gonna reference someone's style, it only seems right to do their signature too. frazetta was easier than hirschfeld...

He will be missed.
