Mancers are strange, magical creatures believed to be related to extinct Pterosaurs. Obviously lacking wings; Mancers instead have gills, as well as immense magical control over a single element. Each Mancer has a 'tail' that consists of three or more 'motes' of their element. Mancers are each born with their element and it is thought to be unable to be changed. Parent's elements do not seem to automatically determine the elements of Mancers while in the egg; but it may have more to do with what the eggs experience during the incubation process. For example; a Mancer egg that incubates during a period of severe thunderstorms may have an electric element; while an egg resting in a nest of ferrous earth may have a metal element.
