I decided to take a rest in the fields whilst on my trek home from a session of landscape painting. The sky was clear, the air was crisp, and the sun was as warm as a blanket, so it was no wonder I drifted off so easily.

A few hours passed and I was roused from my sleep by a wheezing, heavy breathing sound. As I woke, I spotted a strange shadow looming out in the grass. The tall, dark, emaciated shape with its hollow eyes was staring right at me.

I didn't dare move, nor did it. We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity before I slowly started to sit up. I figured to at least be in the position to run if the creature decided I was edible.
As I slowly moved into a crouching stance, the crunching of grass startled the thing. It let out a loud hiss and darted off. I was left with my heart pounding in my chest.

For as long as I live, I shan't forget those eyes...
