The Warriors' New Discovery (4/6)
"Put it down! Put the roof down, please!"
The gigantic, helmet-clad creature was staring intently at Rec as the snake begged him to put the roof down. He seethed under his breath at a certain demon who though it would be funny to make his apartment roof act like a dollhouse and lift up on a hinge to grant any passing macro easy access to its contents. Unfortunately for him, he witnessed the giant turning to one of his companions and rumbling something. Whatever language these guys spoke, it clearly wasn't English.
"Okay fine, here."
Rec trudged through his tiny, exposed apartment--ignoring the wide-eyed stares from above as best he could--and made his way to the balcony.
How could something be this cute?
The leader of the scouting party watched in awe as the little creature took little steps through its box after babbling for a bit. It made its way to a part that protruded outside the structure, then turned to look at him. The creature lifted up his arm in a peculiar way, shifting his gaze from the leader to the lid of the box, and the leader realized that it was matching his arm's pose of keeping the lid open. It then made a motion as if it was lowering the lid back down, once again motioning to the lid with its eyes. Realization washed over the leader; it was trying to communicate! Quickly, gently, the leader complied and lowered the lid back down, then he thundered around the building to face the creature while his companions leaned in from the sides.
"Okay, now we're getting somewhere!" Rec leaned against the railing. His view was utterly dominated by a helmet bigger than his entire apartment, but at this point Rec was used to such sights, at least comparitively. The snake gestured to himself with his hands, and clearly enounciated "Rec" in hopes of getting the giants to learn his name. His deliveries to strange and alien places had gotten him used to language barriers, though usually the concept of a delivery was pretty universal and he rarely had to communicate all that much, but he at least knew how to exchange names.
The giant however did not. Rather than acknowledge Rec's attempt at introducing himself, the hulking warrior plucked him from the balcony with two truck-sized fingers and lifted him up into the middle of a triangle that his two companions quickly formed around him. The giant let go of Rec and let the snake drop onto the back of his other hand, with Rec going through experienced motions of scrambling to his feet and trying to find balance on his new subtly-shifting ground. All three of the giants watched him with what Rec was now starting to realize looked like delight, and it began to dawn on him just what might be going through their heads.
"Oh, you think I'm cute, do you?" Rec grumbled loudly. He began to pace around the giant's hand, being careful not to get too close to the edges. "Of course you do. They all do, and that just makes it okay to do whatever you want with me because I'm smaller than you, doesn't it?"
One of the giants--the one wearing an orange scarf--held out his hand and pointed a finger at the other giant's hand, and the other giant held out his finger to meet it. Rec, lost in his ranting, absentmindedly found himself walking across the makeshift bridge, and only when he nearly stumbled off of it did he snap back to reality. The third giant in the group, clad in blue, held out his hands underneath the two to act as a safety net, and Rec suddenly realized that he was suddenly the star in a spur-of-the-moment balancing act. Holding out his hands, he carefully crossed from one giant's hand to the other, feeling the other giant all but giggle as Rec's feet made contact. Whatever these things were, they were having a lot of fun with him.
