It's Roland! An ex-guard captain who turned to banditry after being ordered one time too many to bully unarmed peasants in the name of gathering taxes, Roland is a skilled warrior and swordsman who possesses a strong sense of justice. He's also Mauger's common-law husband.

Despite his considerable combat prowess, Roland prefers to achieve his goals through negotiation - although the truthfulness or sincerity of that negotiation is another matter entirely. He's a handsome, silver-tongued beast, and although he truly only has eyes for Mauger, Roland doesn't mind letting others believe they have a chance if it serves his purposes.
