A soft breeze flowed softly through the fields of Karamador, pushing the vibrant grass down, the clouds were as fluffy as ever. Suddenly, the sound of hooves clopping interrupted the quiet breeze, who could this be?
"HO MY STEED! Calm yourself, it's just another breeze, the boy in town had said that there is no storms in line for today, calm.."
Sir Kiliajos! The world's most renowned paladin, wind by his side to carry his caring heart to anyone in danger, he was out in the fields for a specific reason today. Taking off his helmet, Kiilajos let his shining mane fall free into the billowing winds that came with riding a horse, his shining eyes looked forward with determination as he whipped his steed's reigns, making her run even faster. The lion had a very special job today, an order directly from the mayor of the small town he took residence in, he was off to check on a friend of his today. Before long, Kiliajos pulled his horse to a stop, patting her neck when she went from a trot down to a standstill.
Putting his helmet down on his belt buckle, the lion stepped down from his horse's saddle and took a deep breath, watching the grass flow with the wind, it was relaxing. Kiliajos left his horse, knowing full well that she was brave enough to stay put in even the most dangerous situations. As the breeze played with his mane, he walked over to a strange dark patch of grass that stood out among the red, it had a suspicious rectangular shape.
"Yes, this is the spot! I finally found it on my first attempt this time..Jen, show yourself! I brought those leaves you needed!"
He followed that sentence by pulling out a small burlap sack in his palm. Jen was around somewhere, the breeze was unnaturally soft, this was her doing, the sound of grass crinkling sounded behind him, Kiliajos grabbed the hilt of his sword and drew it, twisting behind him to see that he's holding the tip of his blade to a robed cat, a smile on her face.
"Did I scare you brave paladin?"
She said in a slight teasing voice, lifting her massive hat and laughing quite hard, Jen loved to scare him occasionally, said Saladin just sighed and put away his blade, keeping a straight face, though it was easy to see that he was close to laughing. The lion tossed the bag to the robed witch and took a seat on the darker patch of grass, thinking it was a nice place to sit down, to which Jen stopped laughing and chose to sit in front of him.
"Ah, too scared for words I presume? Haha.. I'm just kidding friend, thank you for bringing me those leaves again, I can finally start on my special project now! It's gonna benefit me a lot these coming months."
Kiliajos leaned in when she said that, her "projects" always ended up being some kind of wind thing, because of course Jen was a witch of the winds, for now he listened. Jen carefully opened the bag to reveal glowing red leaves, the fluorescent spots on the brown skin made it look rather special, almost ethereal.
"The leaves of the Hiloan Tree, a rare ingredient found only here in Pohjoland, used in potions and other such oral magic, are you sure about this?"
Kiliajos said, looking at the which with a sort of smug expression, he was prepared to see this experiment go up in flames, or rather in gales. Being a lion, he could mostly sense when something was going to happen, and that sense was flaring just a little. Instead of trying to convince her to just stop outright, he wanted to just let his curiosity out a little bit, which did lead to some shenanigans with Jen.
Without speaking, the cat pulled out one of the leaves and carefully spit in the palm of her hand, quickly crushing the small leaf and squishing it all into the grass below, the grass instantly turned red in that spot. Upon seeing this, Jen giggled loudly and did it over and over again until it was in a huge circle around her.
"It's working! Kilia, can you take the rest of these leaves and make a swirling shape on that huge rock in the distance? This is almost complete!"
This was a first, Kiliajos took the leaves without question and ran over to the rock, taking slow steps to enjoy the feeling of the soft grass on his paws. Upon reaching the rock, the lion began to think, Jen sounded a bit too eager to try this experiment, she was kind of happy to try new things, but this was just a little suspicious. Looking down at his paws, Kiliajos carefully plucked a leaf and licked it softly, then crushing it on the rock, repeating the process until there were three spiral shapes of different sizes. When all three were in place, Kiliajos turned around to see that Jen had started running over, a grin on her face.
"So, is it working then? I don't feel any difference in the weather yet, or anything at all coming from you, can you explain this a little bit more?"
The paladin requested, looking at both Jen and the glowing spirals that he created, though right when he asked, a heavy wind started to pick up. Again looking at the witch, Kiliajos saw her take off her hat and toss it away, only to have it fly to that red circle and swirl in circles, it then shot skyward and disappeared into the clouds!
"Sky storage! I felt like my old home is getting a little cramped, so I decided to try and store things like potions, books, and clothes all the way up in the sky! Albeit that might be a little..counterproductive, but it'll work!"
Upon hearing about potion storage, that's when he heard enough and decided to talk some sense into her.
"Jen, this isn't a smart idea, storing potions? What are you gonna do when your potions of fire or poison possibly tilt over? It'll meld in with the clouds and make it rain literal poison water..at least that's what would happen if this wasn't here."
"W-what?! You worked hard for this as well! Risking your life to help with even the smallest tasks just out of curiosity! Why won't you let me carry out this experiment like the other ones?"
"Because it can kill us! If you were just planning on creating a simple windy weather system, I would've let this stand for a day or two before my duty as paladin would shut it down!"
While the two were bickering, they were completely oblivious to one small fact, that circle? The spit it used was drying up, and the one Kiliajos created was still intact, it wasn't long before the circle was dried up and some of the crushed leaves were coming free! A few glowing leaf scraps were blown by the wind towards the arguing cats, flying between their faces, followed by the wind going from a breeze to a heavy gust, Jen stopped talking and looked over, seeing the circle was incomplete.
"Oh no.."
Jen braced herself, stamping her feet on the ground and summoning her staff, sticking it into the grass, Kiliajos felt the wind as well, stopping his argument and baring his teeth a little, he was right once again! Feeling the wind growing stronger, the paladin drew his sword once again and stabbed the ground, kneeling strongly and keeping himself close to the ground, the wind was once again gonna cause him issues.
"Jen! What's going on?! I knew something was gonna happen again!"
Jen stayed silent, clearly a bit upset that her hard work to mess with the citizens was ruined by faulty planning. The wind grew ever stronger, blowing at her cloak and Kiliajos' outfit, they billowed softly at first, eventually flapping like mad! Their hair wasn't spared either, Jen's shiny locks of jet black hair spiraled above her, while Kiliajos was rather luckily, his mane was long, but it was already naturally tangled and curly at times. Finally choosing to speak, Jen yelled as her legs were starting to get lifted off the ground!
"The wind pattern you made! It stayed with the magical leaves!! Those leaves make intense magic whenever they make a specific shape, when my circle was broken it threw the balance of the spell! If we don't get rid of that wind pattern, we will be blown out into the sea! AHHH!!"
Jen was lifted up right on the spot, her legs getting pulled from the ground and pushed backwards, her spell was backfiring horribly!
"We can't even move from our spots! What are we supposed to d-WAH!!"
Kiliajos wasn't even spared, his legs followed the same treatment, they were both holding onto their weapons for safety, not knowing if they'll ever get free! Off in the distance there were people screaming, to which Jen smiled a little, she was able to at least get part of what she wanted!
All they could do was wait, the storm wasn't getting any stronger past this point and there was no way for them to even move.
"Oh well..at least we know my (your) experiments will actually wear off before any REAL damage is done.."
They both said, ending off this rather quick afternoon..
