Barnaby’s backstory was that he was a simple farm boy who lived with his mama on a tiny farm.
Barnaby began to work on the farm from a very young age after his father passed away, and as his mother grew frailer with age, he took on more and more of the work until he was running the farm almost single-handedly.
As a result of a lifetime of farm work, he gained a huge, muscular frame upon entering adulthood. However, he suffered an accident on the farm that left him with lifelong incontinence.
Barnaby’s mother, Betty, was already in a fragile state after her husband had passed away, and the thought of losing her son as well, almost drove her to the brink of despair.
After his accident forced Barnaby to require diapers, Betty began treating Barnaby like a baby, as it was the only way she felt she could keep him safe.
This included bottle-feeding him, giving him bubble-baths, eating out of a high chair, sleeping in a crib, and wearing babyish clothes around the house, such booties, rompers, bonnets, bibs, etc.
Since Barnaby essentially grew up this way and was homeschooled by his mother, he never knew anything was out of the ordinary in how he was raised. Whenever he outgrew a highchair or his crib, he would simply make a new one for himself with a bit of woodworking, and once he outgrew his old baby clothes, his mother would simply sew him new ones to accommodate his ever-growing frame.
No one in the local community was aware of Barnaby’s babyish ways either, as he wore overalls when he did his farm work, which hid his diapers fairly well, although if anyone gave his nether region a closer look, they might have been curious as to the reason there were snaps along the inseam of his pants legs.
Throughout his childhood, Barnaby lived an idyllic life on the farm with his mother. However, as he entered adulthood, changes in the economy caused the already struggling farm to hit some hard times.
Barnaby soon realized that the only thing they could do is try to expand their business by selling some of their produce at a farmers market in the nearby Shoreline City.
Betty was hesitant to agree since they had only ever sold their produce locally, and her old fears of her son being out of her protection began to rear up again.
Barnaby calmed her down and promised to be careful, causing her to relent and agree that they didn’t have any alternatives.
The next day, Barnaby loaded a bunch of produce into the truck and headed off to the city, marveling at all of the big buildings and seeing so many other Anthros in one place.
He arrived at the market and set up his meager stand. At first, no one seemed to be interested, so he started to juggle some watermelons he brought along in order to drum up interest.
A small crowd began to gather, enjoying the show, but things took a turn when a colorful bus pulled up nearby. The bus was filled with wrestlers for Shoreline City’s Wrestling Federation, who had arrived to put on a live demonstration as a PR stunt.
An Elephant who acted as the announcer of the event asked if anyone would like to take part in the demonstration, to which Barnaby innocently stepped up and asked the wrestlers if they could pick a different spot to do their show, as they were interrupting his business.
The announcer misinterpreted Barnaby stepping forward, thinking that he wanted to participate in the demonstration, and had one of his prized fighters, the Mexican Rooster Luchador, Pico de Gallo step forward to face Barnaby.
Pico noticed that Barnaby was wearing farm clothes, and mentioned that he grew up on a farm himself. He then joked and said he would take it easy on Barnaby. Barnaby responded that he was not much of a tussler outside of a few bouts of mudwrestling when he was younger, but he’s willing to play with Pico if they would let him get back to selling his produce in peace.
The match starts, and despite Pico going for a quick finish, Barnaby was able to avoid falling into Pico’s grasp, moving with a speed unlike anything the Rooster had seen before. When Pico tried to lunge at him, Barnaby slipped underneath him, grabbed him by the waist, threw him up into the air, and caught Pico in a position where it looks he was cradling him like a baby.
Pico was caught off guard by this and started blushing furiously as he struggled to escape Barnaby’s grasp, looking every bit like a fussy toddler. Barnaby promptly dropped Pico on his bottom, causing the Rooster to squawk in indignation upon landing.
After rubbing his sore hindquarters, Pico was furious and looked ready to charge back at Barnaby, but the announcer Elephant stepped in and said the demonstration was over. He then looked at Barnaby and introduced himself as the owner of the Shoreline City Wrestling Federation, Mr. Tuskworthy.
He claimed that Barnaby had talent, and if Barnaby were interested in a career as a wrestler, he would be more than willing to sign him on. Pico was furious at this, claiming that Barnaby was a complete amateur with no technique, to which Barnaby sheepishly agreed, claiming that the only thing he knew how to do is be a farmer.
Tuskworthy pondered this for a moment and said that if Barnaby signed with him, then he would have Pico act as his personal trainer, to show him the ropes and catch him up to speed. Pico let out an indignant squawk upon hearing this, and Barnaby again declined, claiming that he had to make enough money to save his mother’s farm.
Tuskworthy chuckled and wrote down a number to show how much Barnaby would make just by signing up to be one his wrestlers. Upon seeing the number, Barnaby almost fainted, with Pico catching him before he hit the floor, and then angrily telling the Skunk to get off of him.
Barnaby told Tuskworthy that he was honored that the Elephant would consider him worthy of such a figure, and he would gladly accept, but he couldn’t do so in good conscious without asking his mother first.
Tuskworthy said that he understands and hoped to hear from Barnaby soon. As Barnaby left, Pico momentarily thought about when Barnaby had almost fainted upon him, one of his wings had ended up under the Skunk’s butt and it had felt as though he was wearing…
However, before he could finish the thought, the Rooster began blushing furiously upon realizing how much he was thinking about another male Anthro’s hindquarters.
As for Barnaby, upon returning home to his mother, he told her about everything that had happened that day. After she chided him for getting into such shenanigans, she immediately stated that she would not allow him to wrestle.
Barnaby then showed her the figure that Mr. Tuskyworthy had told he could if he signed on and Betty almost fell from her chair. Although her resolve was visibly shaken from such a large amount, she still refused to change her mind, claiming that Barnaby could get hurt.
Although Barnaby hated the idea of bringing it up, he felt he had no choice but to mention that after his father had passed, he promised himself that he would do whatever it takes to keep the farm running.
Betty bluntly stated that his father would not have ever imagined something like this occurring, to which he countered that she herself said how bleak their circumstances currently were.
With tears in her eyes, Betty admitted that the deal was good, but continued that Barnaby had never been away from her before. If he took this gig, he would have to move to Shoreline City, and she wouldn’t have her baby nearby anymore.
Barnaby’s expression softened and he held his mother in his arms as he firmly states that he would always be her baby. She wiped her tears away, grabbed a bottle she had been warming on the stovetop, and beckoned him towards the couch.
She sat down and he laid down across the couch so that his head was resting her lap. She tied a terry cloth bib around his neck and then placed the bottle between his parted lips. He drew the warm milk in with a gentle sucking motion, and Betty ran her fingertips through his hair as he drank, silently praying for his safety.
The next Barnaby loaded up his truck with his few meager belongings and promised his mother that once he received his first paycheck, he would send her the money so that she could hire some farmhands to tend the farm.
He quickly made to way to Downtown Shoreline City, where Mr. Tuskworthy was waiting for him. To Barnaby’s surprise, the Luchador he had tussled with at the demonstration, Pico de Gallo, was there as well.
Tuskworthy said that Barnaby would be sharing an apartment with Pico, who would also be his ‘mentor,’ performing duties such as showing him in the ins and outs of the business, as well as helping navigate life in Shoreline City.
Pico looked less than thrilled at the prospect of this new job, but Barnaby did not notice as he quickly embraced the Rooster in a big bear hug. Tuskworthy then lead the two new roommates to the apartment, which had one bedroom each for Barnaby and Pico, a shared bathroom, a kitchenette and dining area, and a sitting room with a glass wall that had a sprawling view of Shoreline City.
Barnaby was in awe that he would be staying somewhere so fancy, while Pico griped under his breath about having to share his apartment with a country bumpkin. Tuskworthy chuckled and told Pico that he had brought over some costume pieces to help Barnaby pick a stage persona.
He ordered Pico to help the process along and to be ready for Barnaby’s debut that evening. As he left, he said that Barnaby seemed like he would be a natural as a babyface wrestler. When Pico raised an eyebrow in confusion at the term, Tuskworthy said that’s what they used to call ‘good guy’ wrestlers back in his day.
After Tuskyworthy departed, Pico scowled and lamented that he had to babysit some newbie, when he should have been focusing on his own career. Pico then went through the costume pieces Tuskworthy bought, rolling his eyes at how gaudy some of the costume pieces were as he inspected an old wrestler’s singlet.
He then headed to Barnaby’s room, opening the door without knocking to show the Skunk the costume pieces. To his utter shock, he saw Barnaby’s overalls strewn across new bed, a soiled diaper balled up on top of them, and a confused Barnaby staring at him as he finished taping a fresh diaper around his waist.
Pico immediately thought back to farmers market and remembered the odd texture he had felt upon catching Barnaby. The thick diaper swaddling his roommates perfectly explained the strange sensation.
When Pico raised his eyes to meet Barnaby, the Skunk had a light blush on his face as he apologized for being seen without his trousers, but he did note that Pico had not knocked before entering. Barnaby then smiled and waved it off, saying that because they were going to be sharing an apartment, they should probably get used to seeing other without their pants on, the thought of it making him bust out a belly laugh.
While Barnaby was taking the whole thing in stride, a wicked grin crept across Pico’s face as a thought came to mind. He then informed Barnaby that Tuskworthy had suggested that Barnaby’s theme for his stage persona should be a ‘Babyface,’ and he had the perfect outfit in mind.

I'm so happy that you are enjoying it. It's been a very cool concept to explore, although admittedly I don't really know too much about wrestling. If I do continue this story I would probably have to do a bit more research. 😅
Anywho, if you don't mind me asking, what are you liking about the story so far? Also, what would be some stuff you would like to see in the story moving forward? 😄
