Phylogenetic bracketing says that when different animals at different stages of evolution throughout a single group can be proven to have a certain trait, it's likely that they inherited it from a common ancestor. It's extremely rare in evolution that the same trait will evolve multiple times in the same group. Since the common ancestor had this trait, it's most likely that the trait would have been passed on to all members of the group.

Nice work, is not very common see in you works of reptiles (much less dinosaurs) whatever you did a great work.
The point me liked is you did a sweet background, the colors are light and don´t looks exagerated, and work very good with the light of the dinosaur. I feel that is one of your best works with the light and colors, congradulations for it my deer friend.

I love the details you put in this piece! The subtle scales and the epic background!
But I'm worried about that egg, it really looks like it's just about to slip and go ker-SPLAT! (S)He must be too shocked to care about a good grip now, seeing how big that claw in the corner is! xD
