First Inktober submission (yeah, I'm not following the prompts). This is from, you guessed it, a NoSleep story, C. D. Johnson's "Memories of my Childhood Pet," wherein the daughter of two cult zealots give her some animal that does nothing but stare at the narrator, try to stand upright all night long, and then (spoiler warning) get itself killed by the neighbor's dog.
