Actually from what I can gather. Star fox original Creator is none other than Shigeru Miyamoto. He Contracted out Dylan Cuthburt of Q Games to develop the software and was the contributing leading role in creating many titles of the Star fox franchise. He has personally expressed disinterest in the series, and gave no solid reason other than he dislikes the Nintendo Wii (because the controls are difficult and the will console is more like a toy) and working with Shigeru Miyamoto. From what little I have gathered I seriously doubt he gave up on the project because of furies.

Is it wrong that I always see Fox as the "top" of the relationship? Wolf seems like the kind of guy who only takes merc jobs that puts him up against Fox in a fumbling attempt to get his attention and be closer to him. He only ever shows up to fight Star Fox and does nothing else but focus on them, and often tries to get Fox all alone for himself.

Well, I think of it this way.
Fox and Wolf have chemistry, and could love each other's company. But I don't really think of Wolf as a character easily tied down to one man. Wolf's a man's man's man...probably literally. More like a free-spirited free-loving traveler in the night.
Fox and Falco are more like old souls who keep coming back to each other.
Maybe Fox is poly? X3
