Casey was in the 1st animated series, but only in a handful of episodes as a minor periodic guest. What's interesting is the animated series showed Raph picking up girls before the Archie comics did: He and Mona Lisa seemed to hit off even though she only appeared in 1 episode
In the original animated canon, she was a college student majoring in Physics before her mutation. The writers originally wanted her to be a turtle, but Kevin Eastman told them no on that. They also considered bringing her back in the final 2 darker seasons, but decided to focus more on Carter and Lord Dregg instead.
