Are you legally blind, completely blind, or are able to see very blurred shapes and light?

legally blind in that eye, it's like looking through very fogged glass. blobs of color if there bright enough for that eye to pick them up.

I wonder if its possible to get a fixed size iris installed? I know they can implant lenses in an eye for those who had glaucoma. If this were possible, you could probably see normally in that eye (though focusing would be impossible because of the lens is solid).

nope, there was also optic nerve damage, and my retna is scared from being detached twice =(

They say that 1024 pixels should be sufficient enough.

In the mean time you could replace it with a laser, or at least a red lightbulb.

Oh, 1024 pixels would also be 32 x 32. Maybe they think the brain can't handle more, or just that any more electrodes would take up too much space. In my opinion 128x128 would be even better (16,384 pixels). Perhaps a long time in the future, they can do a serial connection that converts the signal to a parallel connection to maybe as high as 1024x1024 using electrodes as thin as a human hair.

A positive note I can think of is that it's still intact. I've heard of people having such injuries and they don't just lose their sight. They lose the whole eye. Still sucks you don't have any sight out of it. :/

ahh "eye see" *corny as hell* but theyll just enhance the vision in your left eye and at least make it able to barely read words?

doubt it, most of the bionic eye's ive seen require an intact optic nerve, mine was torn and scared pretty badly from the damage.

yeah... actually thats one thing they need to improve on: Making Bi-Eyes able to connect to any Opitc Nerve in any condition.. if they did you have to go onto marijuwana

i was in a group home, and an asshat decided he'd be "funny" and pitch a 3 1/2" lagbolt above my head to hit a hunk of wood behind me, and well, it smash into my eye. =( did a LOT of nasty damage.

Oh my god! thats fucking horrible! I don't think I would have even been able to deal with that kind of pain! What an idiot douche bag! I would have beat the shit out of him afterwards!

You are still young and science is advancing fast. In a few years damaged nerves could be repaired using stem cell technology.

I signed up to donate my whole body to science. So maybe some day someone can use my left eye, which is not very good, but at least is better than nothing.

They are working on the idea of correcting directly to the optic center of the brain, but it's decade away. I know, let's put a camera in there! (Or at least a fake one...)

I've known a number of people who are have injured eyes or no eye at all. They all have different ways of dealing with it. Are you a candidate for a glass eye, or do you want to keep the old one? An Eye Patch would make you look piratical! (Argh, matey!)

You never know what will come along in the future...
