Okay that's funny, but the actual context (which I have not drawn in these sketches) is that he's floating inside a test tube.
On that note, ever notice some artists draw weightless characters by default? Like, they're just floating, ya know? I'm thinking like sparkledogs with their paws up and a big huge grin and their feet aren't contacting anything and it's just kinda taken for granted? I don't really have an opinion about it, just that I noticed it more after drawing Luck suspended in liquid.

I have noticed that, yeah. I theorize that for some artists it's easier to do it that way because then they don't have to work out how to have the character interacting with an environment. What with perspective, shadows, and geometry to contend with, I can see why.
