So when thinking about this prompt, the first thing to come to mind on the mention of radios was this song from earthbound, and the setting it takes place in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjSUpctGEUQ

for context, you and your party are heading to the big city, and you have to go through the desert to get there, you'd normally just walk along the road but the whole thing is backed up by heavy traffic, so you have to go around through the desert, facing the heat and wildlife of the desert, along with some UFO's and arsonist caterpillars.

anyways, that got me imagining that scenario, being out in the middle of the desert with nothing but a radio that's barely within range of any of the towers, so all you can here are the faint sounds of music along with radio static and weird noises.

I've already lived in this environment so it wasn't that hard to imagine, but I did amuse the though of blowing up a lizard to gargantuan sizes just to use him as a source of shade. he was probably basking anyways so the extra surface area would only help.

Given that this whole train of though was largely influenced by earthbound, I decided to blow up a crested booka.
