Found these today in a rain bucket while doing some yard work Saturday. A bit larger than the examples of Mantis carolinis encountered in the past. These make really cool pets. Also great to have in the garden. Keep your cat away from them, or she may get a lesson.

I saw one about a week ago. Kinda startled me. I just shooed it into the garden and figured it would help out.

Seemed kinda wobbly, not sure if that's normal. Didn't appear to have any missing or broken limbs though.

Each year they invade the downtown area of the town where I work. Then they stakeout the various flower pots and eat up the other bugs. They're about to the end of their lifespan now.

I used to see big ones back in NJ, but since moving to WV, the largest are only about four inches long. I guess different species.
