
And here's the thin moon from two weeks earlier. Want to see what sort of light I was dealing with? Well here's a BIG picture taken with the 24mm lens, 6 second exposure, f-4 and ISO-200. The moon appears as a barely visible twitch of light on the horizon when it does come up, and is only visible in that thin band before the clouds block it out, as they start to do in this picture. This was done with the 500mm lens. I only got two pictures with the 1200mm scope and then went, good, that was well nuts, but I got it! Absolutely insane trying to point it correctly when you can't see a thing because of that crazy f-stop of 14! You can see that shot here, and a larger version of this picture here.
