Drat, I cannot find it, but somepony did a little cartoon based on this, and the answer was they had those tiny hairs all over their hooves, like the ones spiders have that allow them to crawl up walls. (Applebloom was standing sideways on a wall in the punchline frame if I recall correctly...) =^^=
