To me, it also makes sense they'd be used to reveal the reality of a werewolf as well.

The silver thing also comes from the prior myth before they were known as vampires and werewolves. they were literal demons of evil people, the Stragoi(Vampire) being the lesser evil and the Pricolici(werewolf) being reserved for those who were so evil they were not even fit to look human anymore. Silver being holy and of god it simply rejected rejected their very existence. Also nice angle on the picture with the reflection.
Both the Strigoi and the Pricolici actually are classified as separate things in Romania most of the time, as their creation differs from vampires or werewolves. The vampires and werewolves are actually called Vampir and Varcolac. They're even hybrids of both monsters in both iteration.
