I wish people in the UK went all out like that. The most we do is one or two things.

Yeah, for some reason Halloween just doesn't click with us like that. The stores give it their best shot with trick-or-treat goodies but I guess we're either more self-conscious about it or just want to be left alone.

Seems like a good idea to me. From what I understand things are built a lot closer so most everything is within walking distance so long as its not a major city like London or something, so just makes sense a holiday where you walk around and have fun would be a no brainier over there.

Japan has seriously grabbed the Halloween spirit and run with it (Thanks to post war US Occupational troops with their families).

I used to do it all the time back when there was still a big furry scene down where I lived. I baked, made punch, put up decorations, full on party night. It was great!

Dunno how you can be offended by skeletons though. 'Cos like, everybody's got one.

You forget we have those that can't feel alive if they can't find offense - haters gotta hate.

And some of them hate most of all that color is only skin deep - and bones bleached in the sun are white!

Local SJWs went after a house last week, cause the guy had a prison themed set up. They claimed it hurt the feelings of POCs cause of the theme and demanded it be removed, least they protest the place.

The home owner immediately pulled down the display.

I want desperately for someone to make skeleton decorations in the style of the fucked up stuff that Calvin would make with snowmen in Calvin and Hobs, like perhaps a giant skeleton attempting to fight off a bunch of smaller skeletons or something.

My uncle goes balls out like this for Halloween too. A playful light shines in his eyes and he starts putting out the Union skeletons and the sawbones operating table and gravestones. He lives in a haunted 200 year old farmhouse that was an infirmiry so he tries to make it scary and authentic. God bless him

Wuff handed out the normal candy, and had "A special treats from the dragons. A "Magic Spell" to ward off the cars driving in the neighborhood!" Wuff handed out little finger-ring flashlights in 4 colors to the kids, as "Dragon spells" to ward off cars. "Just point them at the cars as you're crossing the streets." wuffy told them.

*GRINS* Kids (and adults too) really loved wuff's "flight of dragons".

That is unfortunate about 'cancel culture' hitting some parts of Halloween, but I love the holiday myself, and if I had a large enough place and decorations to do so, I'd be decor-ing the place up mid, maybe early, September. XD

Back when I was a home owner I loved decorating the house for Halloween. Setting up the lights, decorating. Only problems I ever got was the damn squirrels would chew off the bulbs off the light strings, ruining the string.

Drawback was , hardly anybody on our street took part on handing out treats and the local kids pretty much avoided the street, despite me and two neighbors heavily decorating. Highest number of kids we got was 32 one year, lowest was 3, mostly averaged 4-7 kids per year.

Where I live now...zero kids, too out of the way. Neighbor upstairs decorates though!

Plus when my daughter was in grade school, the school issued out a list of prohibited costumes, which included any culture, no hobos/bums (might offend homeless), no police/military (too offensive) no religious figures (Obvious) or too colorful a costume (Might upset an autistic child). They finally just flat out banned costumes and Halloween.

I can't remember the last time I decorated the house (much less carve a pumpkin) for Halloween. My end of the street is DEAD on Halloween. (More activity down the street and on the next block.)

So now all I do is decorate the inside of the house, and no one seems to notice.

I think since all Americans always had a good time on All Hallows that it has become bigger than Christmas.

Thats rather common here too, plus pumpkins wearing masks too.

Though I've already seen too many carved pumpkins already, they won't last a week now.

That’s the Home Depot 12 foot Skeleton. Impressive to see, but not very pose able. You can also get the full size horse skeleton at Home Depot as well. There is a 12 foot Dragon at Costco.

There was someone in the next township who went all-out for the holiday. That is, until someone trashed his display. There's a big display on the main road in Reese, MI too.

Me--I've got a "Bugs In The Pumpkin Patch" lighted decoration window display item.

Halloween to me is something special, I get to dress up, I love the spiritual aspect of it, the colors of Autumn , the clothes, the weather. I love everything about the fall. But I have this overwhelming feeling the this holiday is dying, because we don't have time.

There's Grinches protesting some decorated houses? Sounds like some people need a personal visit from Samhain.
