It feels like having been ages since the last art project finished, even my self might have forgotten that I can paint something simple. This is a small gift for fluffy
Cawolfy, my ex-roommate, who plays as the Amadé (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's shadow in the musical, in the form of his childhood, representing his genius and the part of himself that wants to accomplish his value in the society) from the Mozart! das Musical. The original plan has both Mozart and Amadé on the canvas (Cawolfy has two fursonas like each other's shadow), but I later found it's a heavy burden and the composition is weird and showing a ruined geometry, so... I gave up.
If you know me well, you might have known that this is my favorite musical, which reveals the split of one's spirit, the contradiction of "ego" and "super-ego". Mozart wants to live free from the shackles imposed by society, on the contrary, music is nearly all to him and he is blessed with that extraordinary talent and the fulfillment of which has to be extracted from society. It might be pretentious that I found my own shadow in this musical, but, unfortunately, not blessed with any talent though.
It is the first time I draw fur and still have much to learn. Like scales, fur has its configuration and regulation. Drawing fur always reminds me of the hairy ball theorem, which states that there is no nonvanishing continuous tangent vector field on even-dimensional n-spheres. The head surface is homeomorphic to S^2, if the fur is smooth and in order, then you need to draw it like a continuous tangent vector field, but there's no such vector field. Based on my practice, I thought introducing some small disorders makes the fur more vivid and gives a touch of realism.
And again, the symmetry is broken, haha. There are tons of problems in this picture, and I am open to suggestions if you are happy to share your thoughts. Well, wish you enjoy it.
Since Cawolfy's fursonas are in a cartoon "Japanese furry style", so there are some features seemed wired in a detailed painting, so I make an alternated version. You can find the original version here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38551428/

Wow, this is incredibly detailed. I can't imagine the time it must take to paint each fur strand and the patterns on the coat. I think there is very little to critique here, but perhaps the hair could be painted as longer strands rather than the same short strands as the fur. Hair tends to gather in clumps of mostly the same lengths and cast shadows from these groupings. I think you've done wonderful work here though. I hope we see more of your art soon!!
Thanks for the kind comment and suggestions^ ^. Yes, the fur on the head could be basically divided into two parts, the snout and the face. The fur on the snout should be short while it should be long on the face to give a touch of realism. The problem might result from the perspective and shadow, which rise the sense of volume, but what I did is too “flat”. The flatness might give it a feeling of strands binding together and lacking of softness.
The hair is somehow messy, which I have to admitted that I didn’t put effort and care on it, and I should have gotten some references.
Thanks again for the advice, and I wish I could fix them a little in the next work.^ ^

You're welcome, and I really am amazed by how realistic the fur looks - the gradual colour changes, the shading, and so on. This style is well outside my range of abilities! I forgot to mention in my last comment, I find the eyes extremely beautiful. Again the depth of colours, and the shine, very good!!
