I’m leaning towards the latter, and the latter might be more darker than Teo just killing people, even if the “killed my molten gold” death scene is included.
There are people who think god hates them, well there’s some grounding for Seth hating Teo
And unfortunately, there might be a breaking point, with him really close to that point, and after that, not even a god he considers his friend (Kraso) could even save him.

Plus hoping that people are still alive is an awful idea, because those people would want you to keep on living, enjoying their life.
That’s why Teo’s story is tragic. That he doesn’t get over Helena’s death, and that consumes him till he stops being Teo, and starts becoming someone else.
A heartless mercenary, feared by everyone who calls the Sahara their home
Plus hoping that people are still alive is an awful idea, because those people would want you to keep on living, enjoying their life.
