…This was a bitch to do.
I think it was probably my penance for having taken so long to get to it, as this was a commission I was asked to do back in December of all months.
It’s Christmas in July…two months early.
Anyways,
codyvfrost came to me with a commission that was –supposed- to be a gift for his friend, yuri. He introduced me to this killer character I’d never even heard of, called ‘Thrilla Gorilla’, who’s easily a poster-ape for the surf-heads and beach bums of the late 80’s, and early 90’s. Further to my amazement, after doing some extensive research, I found out that not only was Thrilla on quite a few shirts, he was also in 2 flippin’ Nintendo games! Imagine that…he’s effing adorable as a sprite too, I just want to cuddle him to pieces.
But anyways, I’m sorry this took so long Vince…but I hope it turned out okay, I absolutely adore Thrilla, he’s awesome.

I never knew this gorilla character existed or that he had two video games. He must have been a rather obscure character. And I also confused him as a Donkey Kong character (I wonder if that was where they got the inspiration for Funky Kong). Which is a shame because he seems like a very much like-able and personable gorilla type character.
T&C is still around, but they don't use the "'Da Boys" characters. This is the artist's website.

Apparently, he did a lot of the Big Dogs designs, too.
I guess Yuri will have to attack Maui's Sharkman, now. If Thrilla's conscious, he even might help.
