The one and only Horus! Oh, boy do I love this man. He's not my favorite -- probably close to my third favorite, in all honesty -- but he's sooo much fun to draw and animate with. He's a really prominent character in the story of TCotC too, so I have to give him some love, lol.
If you guys follow my YouTube channel, you might be aware of the "Week of Chaos" event that has Horus and Set (in all their animated glory, of course) take over my channel. It was a lot of fun this year, and gave me a lot of practice drawing Horus and Set -- I also got to foreshadow a lot with TCotC's story, since we're picking things back up from scratch this year... But that's a story for another day!
Anyway, yeah. The general reference for Horus was fairly easy -- he's simple and straightforward. I know his color scheme might be a bit different than what's expected, but Horus kind of just made himself in my head. When I even thought about drawing Horus for the first time, this orangey-brown color was all I could see him as. So, here's a bit of trivia -- instead of the more popular route of making him a peregrine falcon or a kite or something, I decided to make Horus a lanner falcon to fall in line with his brown color scheme. His son Qebehsenuef is a peregrine, of course, but we're talking about Horus here~
I did give him a reaaaally long tail fan... Mostly because I like the way it looks. I think I actually shortened it from his previous incarnation; I'm pretty sure that in his first design the tail fan was so long that it dragged the ground like a curtain!
I also gave Horus a much simpler title than all the other gods... Mostly because I forgot to tack on his other titles! He's god of pharaohood, war, and lots of other stuff -- but "God of the Skies" has such a nice ring to it, don'tcha think?
Anyway, yeah. Enjoy this friendly bird. As you can imagine, he's very important to the story.
My friends and I call him "Wide Whorus" as an inside joke and I swear to goodness it cracks me up every time
