Light is my first ever D&D character, a Tabaxi Wild Magic Sorcerer. My first ever session with him was held on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020.
Light Born of Plight was kidnapped by slavers at a very young age and bought by a cruel and narcissistic Elvish wizard named Kelsador. For years all he ever knew was serving his master, and the cruel punishments his master subjected him to when and if he disobeyed or made mistakes. As he grew older his hatred and resentment of the wizard grew, until one fateful day when the wizard in his absent-minded old age summoned him to the top of his tower only to reprimand him for bothering him when he wasn't summoned.
Like a dormant volcano, his anger and frustration boiled inside him until it suddenly manifested in a small magical explosion which blasted the wizard through the wall of his tower and threw him to his doom. Unsure of what had even happened, he gathered all of the wizard's tomes and artifacts, as well as various provisions into a magical bag of holding and fled before the wizard's guards found out what had just happened. The wizard had taught him Elvish so that he could fetch him books, which helped him here.
Seeking refuge deep in a cave system, he read the tomes in the hopes of understanding what had happened. Not only did he find out exactly what his new raw magical power entailed, he learned several spells, as well as about the outside world he had been sheltered from. With an intense desire to travel and see the world with his newfound freedom, he made use of his new magical talents and became a wandering mercenary, acquiring knowledge along his travels and applying it to solve peoples' troubles for a price.
- Kelsador was a member of a coven of powerful elven wizards who call themselves "Arlathan's Eye."
- Kelsador was only their treasury and artifact keeper.
- Arlathan's Eye's goal is ultimately power, manipulating the politics of the land for both power and profit.
- They have seven total members including Kelsador and are lead by a powerful female elf Warlock named Mavilda, notable for her love of extravagant purple robes, her long flowing red hair and her sapphire blue eyes.
- Light did often need to serve Mavilda as she would visit Kelsador at his home, and he was often brought along to their secret lair along with other slaves.
- He rarely ever got attached to other slaves given their masters would sell them or kill them at points, but he did often play board games with them to pass the time during meetings where they were forbidden from entering unless called for.
- Light did have one other slave he could have called a friend, a ginger gnome girl with a freckled face and green eyes named Waywocket. Not only did he find her relatable, but she was kept around by Mavilda than was typical for her.
- Light was the only slave Kelsador had, though he wasn't the first. His feline athleticism and reflexes kept him useful around the lab, both on and off the slab...
- Light is carrying amongst his possessions a tome of forbidden black magic called the Vecna Arcanum, one of Kelsador's most recent acquisitions before Light supposedly killed him. It's an enchanted tome artifact created by the Chaotic Evil goddess of evil secrets, Vecna. With it, Arlathan's Eye would have known every possible way to rule the world.
- Light's powers aren't fully within his control. They're emotionally charged, should anything severely upset him, his magic will become unstable and anyone within range has the chance to feel him vent his wrath.
- If/when Light dies in combat, his wild magic will cause one final magical explosion. The explosion won't hurt party members or allies, but teleport them to a random safe location. Everyone else? That's up to you. Upon death he'll entrust the Vecna Arcanum to his party.
- In the event Light is ever nude and the others can see, they would notice restraint marks on his arms and legs, as well as scars and incisions all over his torso, pelvic region and thighs. Clearly where Kelsador experimented on him, but they've all healed almost supernaturally well... as if Kelsador knew healing magic.
Experimenting on Light wasn't necessary to his role in Arlathan's Eye or even his own important research either. He literally never 'met' a Tabaxi before and just decided to strap him down and see what made him tick. Light would be conscious for it too, until he passed out from the shock. But Kelsador made sure he wouldn't die no matter what, even if he was taking a scalpel to his heart.
Amongst other things, Kelsador used him for spell practice as well. He'd even make Light sip on his tea to test if it was too hot for him. He was exceedingly cruel to Light, mostly just for fun.
Pros: Kind, Selfless, Impulsive (regarding oppression, poverty, etc.), loyal, fondness for art and culture, progressive/inclusive, LGBT, generous, low maintenance in terms of food and drink.
Cons: Naive, Impatient/Restless, Trust Issues/Stranger Danger fear (can have agoraphobia in crowded taverns), immense sweet tooth (will do almost anything within reason to satisfy a craving), lacks/dislikes responsibility.
Emotional Profile: He's friendly and laid back for the most part, but apprehensive around strangers, though he'll reasonably open up to individuals who seem nice enough. He hates conflict and even mild arguments can cause him to suffer intense anxiety attacks where his powers will go completely out of control. Being well-read he can be known to make sarcastic quips at opportune moments, naively oblivious to who it might upset or why. Oppression, slavery, racism/speciesism infuriate him. He dislikes Monarchies, tolerates democratic republics, and respects true democracies. His idea of a perfect social hierarchy largely equates to that of a Socialist Democracy.
He's never known his family, but would enjoy meeting them if they still exist. He values familial connections and finds domestic turmoil to be unbearably sad, to the point he'll try to help spouses reconcile and convince children against running away. To him, a close friend is loyal and understanding, good-natured and enjoys sweets, board/card games and the thrill of adventures and archeological spelunking. But any friend who is there for him when he needs one ho is loyal, understanding and good natures he will cherish regardless.
Romantically he would be able to express and/or return interest in anyone he considers a close friend, but his one true soulmate is a person who is the most like him in terms of personality, likes, dislikes. In terms of sexuality he's homosexual, a five or six on the Kinsey Scale with a preference for men similar in body type to him. He's disinterested in any species that aren't human, dragonborn, elf, lizardfolk, kobold or other similar species. No interest in dwarves, gnomes, orcs and the like.
He's promiscuous as a result of being not allowed to seek companionship as a slave and will sleep with anyone able to consent. He's kinky and enjoys being tied up or strapped down during lovemaking, but will only engage in acts of bedroom bondage with someone he trusts implicitly, such as a close friend or his soulmate.
Physical Profile: He's a young, athletic twunk in his early twenties with the build of a runner/swimmer. Largely similar in appearance to a cougar his primary fur color is coffee creamer tan, while the fur on his chest, belly and inner pelvic region are cream white. He has a head of medium length dark chocolate brown hair, largely unkempt in a messy coif at the front and hanging loosely against the back of his head and upper neck in the back. He has periwinkle eyes with slitted pupils. His features are generally soft and boyish. For clothing he wears robes of a tribal nature festooned with beads and feathers, similar to those of a classic Native American shaman.
