It’s a cold, autumn evening when you see it across the field. It was huge, bathed in moonlight, but it was impossible to make out the details beyond the flickering, glowing lights. You don’t know what it was doing - it looked like it was holding something, inspecting it. You feel that maybe it would be a good idea to leave and pretend that you didn’t see anything, but…

You’re rooted in the spot. You can’t pull your eyes away.

Slowly, a glowing red light shifts, and looks in your direction. It’s an eye, you can’t help but think. An eye that sees you - small, insignificant you, hidden in the shadows of the trees you’d decided would make for a relaxing, midnight walk. Far from civilization with no known wild predators to worry about, you’d thought it would be safe.

You thought you’d be alone.

The creature seems to consider you for a moment. You can’t help but feel wildly insignificant under its gaze - a gaze that feels like an abyss that you can’t look away from. A judgement.

It raises its arm, and it begins to glow.
