I have to keep my message settings set to 'notify for direct messages or everyone only' -- otherwise, I'm getting pelted by message notifications at all hours of the day, for conversations that have nothing to do with me. Discord's servers are a great way to stay connected, but... I think someone needs to gently remind the admins about the concept of time zones.
Mute button is your friend - I typically mute servers that are too active for me to deal with. Unless people abuse everyone this is usually enough.
You can of course also just mute everything- even the biggest TF/Furry servers I can usually get away with checking it once a day to fully catch up on shenanigans. I've never been in bigger servers though, so your experience will vary.
