I recently found out that Winged Sphinxes of Greek Myth also served as "Mounts" for the Muses, especially those who had to deliver inspiration to the mighty and powerful. I thought I'd "Update" the idea a little bit and depict a pair of Dream Deliverers getting ready for a busy night's work.

I think I heard that on an episode of the "Coast to Coast AM" late night radio program about a couple years ago. I'll have to do some net searching, but I know the Columbia University has a great Mythology section in their reference website. I learned more things about Sphinxes there than I had known before.
Though I might be tempted to invite the spynx in and ask the muse the stay outside.
I assume it's supposed to be the other way round?
Then again this is the furry fandom. I'm probably not the only one to find an anthropomorphic of any kind more inspiring (not in that way!) than a humanoid.

By a coincidence, SteamFox, the 'sphinx' just happens to be the mascot of "The Enigma" - the official monthly newsletter of the National Puzzlers' League (which I've been a member of since July, 1982). Maybe, one day, I'll ask you to do a mini-sketch of one of your winged sphinxes for the cover (or, at least, the title logo area) of a future issue (especially if it has an 'all-animal theme' to it)!
hehehe, don't help them much around Castle Discora . . . as the name indicate, Discord is the way of things around it and it's all too easy for magic to go awry if you're not careful.
That's why we never worry about trouble makers or thieves . . . and visitors, even passersby can quickly become long staying guests if they don't watch out. . .
heheh, especially if my older sister gets her sights on them
