Still sort of putting everyone together, but here's what I got. I got creative with the fire tribe. you can't see it, but I had to do more than a little bit of work to get everyone to work properly.
There's even a guy with a rifle on his backpack, and I did a custom model for the pilot of the battle suit, in the case that he ejects (made out of the torso of the spotter from the hovertank (devilfish) an extra pair of legs, an arm, and a conversion of a pulse rifle into a pulse 'pistol'

not nearly D:
the Tau are full of hard to paint places that I constantly lament, and choices. OH THE CHOICES D:
I spent a full hour trying to figure out what the different weapons options were for my battlesuit, then anoher hour deciding to put the plasma cannon and the melta cannon on the shoulders
I hate choosing @.@

Nice to see another 40k player, I play Eldar (10,000 pts.) Dark Eldar (2000 pts.) Space Marine (1000) and Necrons (20,000 pts.) Yeah I'm a real 40k veteran. Playing the game since 1995. I once played my entire Necron army collections against 8 opponents with their Imperial army combined. It was of course an Apocalypse battle. It took us 20 days to finish it. I sadly lost (Because Necrons have seriously become underpowered with the 5th edition.) but it was sure heck fun.
Intresting conversion you made there, have you already came up with ideas for colour scheme? And what is your army list? I might can give you a few pointers on what is best to use and what best to leave on the shelves. ^^

Oh we played during summer break from 8 to to 16:00. We used special markers to show what had happened in each part of the turn. ^^; And yes we saw it as a challenge to actually finish it. ^^; There were even times when we were not all present but it was my turn anyway so the others simple watched and took the saves for those who weren't present then. ^^;
Hooray, a fellow T'au player!
Say, what's the scheme gonna be? I can give you loads of tips if you wanna.
Oh. and concerning that XV8 you built, I never would have thought of attaching the multitracker/target lock thingy on the arm rather than on the back. It's so obvious, I completely missed that possibility. Seems cool!

Fellow Shas, allow a humble Fio to make a few suggestions:
Do not glue weapons on. Buy magnets off the interwebz so you can ,agnetize your suit's weapons. That way, no matter the choice, it's not permanent, and you can customize.
Pulse carabines are good for Pathfinders. Pulse rifles are good for Fire Warriors. Simple as that.
Go to advancedtautactica.com. It's THE absolute Tau site. Links are provided to buy the aforementionned magnets, and there's loads of articles to cover any possible aspect of Tau.

I'm sorry, but if people get to them, they're already dead. Unles it's a squad of guardsmen. With pulse rifles, you can outshoot other basic army weapons (gotta love than 6" longer range) and rapidfire two shots at under 12".
With Carabines, you get to move and shoot once at 18 inches. Then the enemy gets to move within 12 inches, rapidfire you to death, and/or assault you in that same turn.
Pinning is utterly useless against 9/10ths of the other armies (exception being Imperial Guard). Even a whole squad with carabines cannot guarantee to pin Space Marines (or their equivalents, which are by far the most numerous ennemies).
The only use I made of my carabine-toting Fire Warriors was to convert them to Pathfinders. Best decision I ever made (right after magnetizing)
Anyhow, good luck, and for the Greater Good! Kovash Tau'va, Min!

They're not better, actually. Even if you have the photon grenade LAUNCHER, you still have to pay 1 point for the actual photon GRENADES! Kinda stupid if you ask me, but what the heck.
That being said, it would be fun having them running around and wrecking enemy tanks with EM grenades!
