Just kidding. I think he's Simonized, actually. Anyway, here's a quickie pencil sketch of Detroit (Jeremy Dunlop) from the Lot Six/Caterwaul Red story. Basically, imagine removing the fat and skin off the guy, then chrome-plating everything. That's about how he looks. I'm still up in the air regarding the lips and mouth. I don't know whether I want to include the full snout with all those damn whiskers, or show the more stripped-down version.
Anyway, enjoy!

Yeah, most of the Lot Six crew will have somewhat ghastly appearances. Those that change their forms will actually experience pain while doing so. This isn't gonna be "X-Men". There won't be some big flash of light and then "TA-DAA!". It's going to be more realistic. And some of the characters have some pretty ugly powers...
He's got no soft internals in this form. Everything is an organic metal. He doesn't have a pulse, no brainwave activity, no need to breathe (unless he has to speak).
See, a gov't. agency was trying out different formulas for genetically creating the ideal soldiers. But the project backfired, and it wasn't until years later that the agency learned the original test subject's kids had these weird abilities.
Jeremy could probably withstand a nuclear blast at point blank range. I wouldn't suggest getting anywhere near him, however!
Also, if he's armored up and in the sun, he gets pretty damn hot. Hot enough to burn things up, unfortunately. But without a sense of touch, he can't tell.

I did it to someone once, mind you it was an artificial arm but it was his all the same. >;) I also hit him with his artificial right leg but let him keep is left one so he could hop about trying to get away from me. Ah yes the summer of 1999 when I won the gold medal at the Amputee wrestling and cage fighting olympics. ^_^
Mixed. I did some sketches of river otter skulls, and tried to figure a way to blend it with a human skull. The musculature I used is based on human musculature, since I was unable to find photographic reference to otter musculature. Creative license, and all that.
But...but...all those professional art critics on those elite image boards said I didn't know a thing about anatomy!
Thanks! I'm just glad I'm able to incorporate some of my regular art stuff into the anthro vein. I was initially concerned it wouldn't work out too well.

I finally tracked down your yahoo group again! Thanks a lot for being so active with that and here too, by the way. It is awesome to get a chance to talk to you, no only because you're such a great artist but also because you just seem like a cool guy.
But anyways I tracked down the group because I knew it had Detroit's old design up. Namely, the pages you and Shawntae Howard did are unforgettable. Even though it was just a joke it was incredible to see two great artists work together.
It's neat to see you doing new things with the characters and I do approve of the changes to Detroit, though I'd think that's going to be hell on you to draw if you go into this much detail every time. You could always put him in a uniform of some sort, it's not like he could feel uncomfortable. But anyways, it's ironic you bring up the X-men because the old look was very reminiscent of X-men regular Colossus. I think this new appearance is much more unique and is much more in line with the tone you seem to be going for.
Now there are a couple of things I wanted to note but I barely know anything about anatomy so I apologize in advance for my naivety. It looks like you have veins on Detroit's arms as part of his design, but not anywhere else. I'm guessing that's just a stylistic choice because otherwise with no skin you could see his whole circulatory system. The other thing was that to me it looks like his chest is more inward towards his spine than his abdominal muscles. I'm not sure if that's a natural consequence of removing fat from the body or if it's part of using human musculature on a sleek otter body but I naturally want to assume that would be the other way around.
The big part that you mentioned in your comments was the face. This is probably the biggest chance from how Detroit used to look. I think you should experiment with the different styles and see what you like best. Like other people commented, with his abilities giving him whiskers could be beneficial-or not, considering the cursed with awesome/blessed with suck nature of his powers. Really I think the most important part of this is how it relates to both audiences' and characters in the comics' reactions. The old Detroit might be intimidating but wasn't really horrifying (well, unless he was raping someone to death) however in the new comic if everyone runs away from him screaming I can't really blame them. But that might be something you can use for the character. He can turn the power off, at least according to his old profile, so he won't go through The Thing drama but he's going to have a hard time saving anyone if they think he's a demon. Actually on that note Detroit really looks more demonic here than Penance does in her new body, at least not taking into account the demonic looks you can give her.
From the comics it sounds like you're keeping close to the old backstory. It's always been a more realistic idea than stuff like X-men, like you said in the comments as well, but I am interested in seeing how far you go with that. On the one hand I do really like what I've seen so far and I think all of your new work is remarkably stylistic, but on the other hand from a story perspective I don't want this to go the way of 90s Dark Age comics either. If we are going off the old bios Jeremy is 16 so he's still really just a kid. I'm looking forward to see how you can balance all the darker themes of the comic without making it overly angsty.
Sorry for rambling. It is always great to see your work. I have absolutely no idea how you could finish this in just over an hour with how detailed it is, but color me impressed. You mentioned new appearances for most of Lot Six so now I'm really looking forward to seeing them. Good luck with everything! ^^

Thanks for the review, man, and I'm glad you reloacted the group! Detail isn't too difficult to pull off, though Jeremy does actually have a full uniform just like the Caterwaul crew. I drew him without the top here since it was the only way to show the musculature!
There would actually be a lot more veins and stuff on him, but for the sake of simplicity (and it is just a sketch), I kept the veinwork to a minimum in this piece. As for the chest, I think the underdrawing may have slipped while I was doing the clean-up. That happens if the clips holding the two pages together slip to the side. And I usually don't post the underdrawings because those have red pencil and lines all over the place (they tend to be sketchy and rough). I'll fix the chest and snout when I upload the next image of him.
The Lot Six bit isn't going to get dark like the comics you referred to; in fact, even Caterwaul doesn't get that dark. But they are much more realistic, and I'm not producing the stories in the typical way (everyone acts human, but they have animal heads), or even like Blacksad (the species is a physical description of the character's personality). I'm approaching it more like the ol' Sci-Fi style, because, frankly, they WOULD have different laws, customs and rules than we do. But I have to make sure folks can understand that from the get-go, otherwise they'll be lost...
