I never heard of these feathers... And that would be a difficult thing to google. If I type in "feathers break off to clean bird", I get stuff about blood feathers!

Ah yes. Powder down works as a water resistant. Cool.
And I never knew about broken blood feathers either. Though, I have seen feathers of killed birds (who fell prey to something) filled with blood. Which already kinda surprised me.
