I'd say the T rating is alright. Halo hardly had any swearing or horribly graphic gore or sexual content. and even when it did have swearing, it was pretty mild stuff. Plus, the T rating happened with halo 5 because (if I'm remembering right) Violence alone isn't enough to warrant an M rating in the ESRB any more cause of some new media legislation that was passed at the time.
