Fun factoids about the Pokemon fandom
If you look at all the complaining every new generation gets, you'd know it's true.

*Scratches chin.* My curiosity is piqued, explain? I've seen a lot of complaining from and about all "sides" but this is a new one. I do, however, remember a bit over half of the members of the PCA bawwing and a lot of them quitting (for a month) over the uniform event some time back, as well as a lot of people threatening to leave and complaining whenever management shifted. Which never seems to change all that much after a good week or two of the new guys being in charge. =/
Which is why I never joined to begin with. Seems like there's too much attempt to stifle creative individuals, just to uphold the illusion of an alternate universe. Shouldn't the group be just a base setting for individual projects, because I'm far from against the character rules, and not a exercise in fascism and elitism?
That's why the only PCA related thing I'm working on right now is something a bit unorthodox. Maybe somewhat inflammatory :3

But, um... You never explained, where's the attempt to stifle creativity? And where's the admins bawwing about "even the slightest deviation from their closely developed world?" The community always had minimalistic rules, even the uniform thing was an event that was announced as a temporary event people didn't have to do things with. It was meant to stir up possible storylines and art and nothing more, but half the people around just bitched about it failing to consider the whole thing was optional to begin with and that none of them even wrote or drew things that happened in-class anyway. It was an event that COULDN'T effect anyone unless they went out of their way to put it to use.
If I recall correctly, the only real guidelines are "avoid shadows it's a cliche'," "your fourteen year old does not control the government and is not a god or demon," "493 pokemon aren't enough? Hybrids aren't necessary and are another overdone cliche'," "high school isn't the place for 30+ students," and now of days "all schools have some form of dress code, enough people portraying their teenagers as running around the halls naked or in a bikini." Basically, "don't be a crap writer, and this is a community project not your fetish hub." But this is also thinking off the top of my head.

My bad, most of that isn't even mentioned in the guideline it's just general opinion of "this is crap writing." The only real rules are no shadows or deltas, no overaged students, no hybrids or fan-pokemon, four moves per grade they've been in, and no humans. Other than that there's only urging to be reasonable and remember your kid's a kid, in a school. Sounds like nothing but a setting for community projects to me~
Have you ever viewed Neon Genesis Evangelion, the last two episodes? Didn't each law that Shinji added to the world in his mind also cut his abilities in half in said world? In fact, his world became became a PCA story, filled with bubbly uselessness and after-school special cliches.

Once again, a interesting connection, my only PCA writings are a parody of EVA. I do have a teenager in charge of an organization, and there exists a hybrid of sorts. I just feel bad that what I write will not be appreciated, and I pity the muses of those who continue to write dribble for the single reason of keeping in good favor of people with no more power than our own.
It is for free-will, that I will create the world that is in my own heart.
And sorry, Eric, if you're reading this. I brought up EVA again X3

Write what ya want how ya want, man. Long as it's not hurting people, anyway. And I can see where some of that statement is coming from in the fact that certain things in the PCA have intentionally been modeled after high school plotline staples, but I don't see that much writing based on it. Oh well, have fun with what ya do. And I did see Evangelion, great series. One of the few truly good animes out there.
Pretty much every fandom out there is has this problem, really. Transformers, for example, has loads of people who will cry foul about every series past the original '80s cartoon no matter if the writing and/or animation is greatly improved. It's just that, to me at least, Pokemon stands out more because it actually doesn't really change that much in between iterations yet the first thing you see when anything new is announced is cries of "OMG SOMETHING DIFFERENT THE FRANCHISE IS DEAD TO ME!!one"
Ahahahahaha... I actually know exactly of what you speak there. Pokemon, Transformers, and AvP are the three big fandoms for me. Admittedly, I'm one of the guys who cries foul at a lot of the new AvP stuff... But not because of difference, I love that some of this newer stuff is different. It's more that some of it has gone out of its way it feels like to be so different, and turned out so bad. Oh well, at least the new comics don't follow these crap movies FOX has been regurgitating out at us.
