From the wiki entry on Gallows Humor:
Author and playwright Oscar Wilde was destitute and living in a cheap boarding house when he found himself on his deathbed. There are variations on what the sentence exactly was, but his reputed last words were, "My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death; one or the other of us has got to go."

Oh, those soulful eyes, I am truly struck. I am also curious over the gleeful expression of the fellow in the bottom right hand corner. The backgrounds have been really fantastic overall, honestly, detail and things going on to be interesting, but not so much you forget what the real focus is.
Am I counting incorrectly, or is this the last'un? :)

This has been such a wonderful series. It brought together a lot of things - great line with colour sense, broad gesture with fine detail, realism with cartoon energy, solidity with a light touch. And all that consistently, over so many pieces. I'm all admiration :) Thanks for sharing them.
I love the simian in the lower left corner: "Ho hum, another rebel getting hung. That's the seventeenth today. I'd be at the pub right now, if I didn't have be an official witness. Bloody Committee of Public Safety should send one of their own down here to do this." Poor esel, what did he do? Dare to speak out? Have the bad luck to know a revolutionary by name? Get caught reading the wrong broadside? Betrayed by a trusted friend?
This is the end of the series? Well, you've done a superb job on it, much feeling, insight and humor you've worked into these. Very believable, earthy characterizations and fine details, and your descriptions add worldly depth to the illustrations (even if they're not "official" for the game). BRAVO! MUY EXCELLENTE! ICHI-BAN! THE BEE'S KNEES! BLOODY GOOD SHOW, OLD BEAN, EH WHAT?!

Okay, I now have a campaign for the next Ironclaw session: save teh donkey!
Others: But---why?
Me: It's a donkeh!
Others: But it probably--
Me: Save donkeh.
Others: But we're trying to--
Me:DONKEH!
I'm eager to find out whether Ironclaw will feature donkeys as true to real life, or uses all the (usually inaccurate) cliches.
