Yeah... over my hiatus/away time/whatever you call it, I added the character trait of cigar-smoking with Edgar. Inspiration for that came from a D&D campaign (... uh... yeeaaaaah....) and for some reason it seemed to fit Edgar as I might have mentioned before that he was a former smoker (and I guess he just started back up with the habit) and he's kind at a point in his life where he's become kind of apathetic about his health overall.
So anyway, onto the tl;dr babbling...
-Personality- Edgar is irritable, sardonic and passive-aggressive. He's the pessimism to Alister's optimism, usually making no attempt to hide his cynicism and misanthropic attitude. Underlying all of this is a dual arrogance and insecurity. He realizes he's a loser, but feels that everyone else is just as bad, but too stupid in their ill-deserved confidence to realize it. In his mind, he's self-aware, so he's got a leg up on everyone else. Cowardly and just as neurotic as his twin, he's OCD when it comes to cleanliness, germophobic, and has a ridiculously low gag-reflex. He's intelligent in a more practical way. Despite an unfriendly nature he develops a strong loyalty towards family and the small number of friends he has. While he is heterosexual (and has some archetypically "manly" traits such as cigar smoking, gruff attitude, etc.), he has a tendency to act in a stereotypically "metrosexual" (yes, that term is a really stupid term) or effeminate way. He prefers to be more housebound, and do things such as cook and clean (what a good, little 1950's housewife you are, Edgar), and so on and so forth.
-Background- Edgar was born to the same family as Alister (HOLY SHIT! What a stupidly obvious fact to point out). As a child, nothing really extraordinary happened. He was usually left alone by his other siblings, since even as a child he kept to himself. The only sibling who really interacted with him a lot was Kelsey, his older sister, who mostly tried to play with him because she felt as though he needed a play companion. When Edgar and Alister were 8-years-old, both he and Alister were up on the roof of their family's shed. Alister instigated a kind of playful wrestling fight which started to get out of hand, as both of them got caught up in the moment and somewhat forgot where they were. Edgar ended up falling off, which seriously messed up his lower back, causing the chronic back pain that would plague him throughout the rest of his life (this is something that he will still blame Alister for from time to time). As he grew up, he preformed well in school, although he usually kept his grades and academic activity to himself. His father encouraged him to get involved in athletics during high school, the idea being that maybe Edgar would be able to make a few friends and the exercise would help relieve his back pain. Edgar was a rather mediocre athlete and while he did make acquaintances with his fellow athletes, he didn't really make any friends. The athletics did help with his back pain, though, so he stuck with them. Like with Alister, Edgar's parents worried about him with his lack of social activity. They were rather thrilled when they had found out that Edgar did have a crush on a girl in high school (which might've meant that he was finally opening up to people). Unfortunately this girl was a rebellious brat. In a pathetic attempt to impress her, Edgar picked up smoking cigarettes. His parents found out and forced him to quit. He later came to his senses and realized how stupid he was being about his infatuation. The rest of high school went on as normal and he graduated and went to college. Parents died. After this he went into a state of apathetic depression which caused him to mostly mope about. He stopped exercising, and his back pain came back, which caused him to lie about even more. He started to put on weight and picked up smoking again, this time cigars. He then had to move into the apartment with Alister, which kind of forced him to snap out of his depressive funk.
-Other Misc. Fact shit-+He's a talented cook/baker and he's also rather adept at playing the violin.
+Edgar suffers from non-ulcer dyspepsia, which is basically indigestion which does not seem to have a specific cause, and is just more a functional problem of the digestive system. He has a particular sensitivity towards very spicy or very rich foods, which means that often times when he makes extravagant, lavish meals he can only have a tiny amount of his own food. So most of the time when he makes rich, fancy foods they're usually to impress other people. His indigestion is exacerbated by his cigar smoking, stress and his love for coffee. While he does try to moderate his diet, he occasionally gives into his more gluttonous canine tendencies, which ends in the predictable result of indigestion.
+One thing he has especially low tolerance for is children. He hates how loud they are, especially when they're throwing a fit. They're also usually very dirty and messy which easily conflicts with his mysophobia (Fear of germs). He also just has a bad view of them. He sees them as unrefined brats who are perpetually greedy and need nothing more than to be immediately taught manners.
+Edgar absolutely loves teas and coffees, as mentioned before. He doesn't drink alcohol very often, though, considering the fact that he gets drunk ridiculously easily. If he does drink, though, he prefers more fancy alcoholic beverages such as wine, over other drinks such as beer.
+He has a rather unusual personal goal. He wants to, at some point in his life, make a dish called "Black Swan", which is an exceedingly fancy and very expensive dish. It is notoriously difficult to make, but if you make it correctly it's one of the most delicious things you'll ever taste. Edgar really wants to make this dish some day because he really wants to taste "Black Swan" for himself and he just wants to see if he can actually do it, kind of like a test for his skill. It's also a symbolic goal, in that, if he can afford to make this dish, then that would mean that he's no longer poor.
+He is completely aware of the fact that his cigar smoking is bad for him, but he's just at a point in time in his life where he's rather apathetic about that aspect of his life right now (same thing with his weight). He smoked in the past, quit, and then started back up again when his parents died. It's an activity that he picked up again after his parents died as a way to soothe his nerves and he just became re-addicted to smoking again.
+Has on and off chronic lower back pain.
Aaaand I'm done. And yes, I am a really big dork when it comes to character building. Shit, I should be asleep by now. :/

Well, technically I haven't really thought of them as "aging", persay... up until now, I just didn't settle on an age for them. :/ Most of the development has just more or less come through a gradual evolution of realizing who these characters were (if that makes any sense at all. :p)
Most interesting parts: " Edgar really wants to make this dish some day because he really wants to taste "Black Swan" for himself and he just wants to see if he can actually do it, kind of like a test for his skill. It's also a symbolic goal, in that, if he can afford to make this dish, then that would mean that he's no longer poor."
"So most of the time when he makes rich, fancy foods they're usually to impress other people." So he likes cooking but can't enjoy very much of it. Vicarious.
I agree with him on the noise and filthiness of kids.
Thank you for making unique character background.
