For the Thursday prompt. I'm embarrassed to say that this is the first time I've ever even looked at the prompt. I was always going by the quote at the beginning and well, um... I didn't read that far before. So this one is "spring."
When I started the story I thought of a light-hearted spring day in the small mountain town of Adida. It was going to be a story about a little wolf girl enjoying the end of spring and looking forward to the coming of summer. Something about thinking of the end of spring made me think of spring as a life event rather than a season and I was drawn to the events that brought about the end of Sajani's spring. The opening paragraph had more to do with the originally planned story, but I left it in anyway. I figure part of the experience of reading my contributions to the prompt is seeing what my first drafts look like. I do a couple read throughs when I finish to remove any glaring errors, but I avoid the "fleshing out" I do in later drafts.
While I don't really view it as an emotional story, I have to admit, I was a little choked up as I wrote the end.
This story is entirely canon. The events mentioned are either mentioned in the novels themselves or outlined in the wiki entry for Sajani. It will make a lot more sense to someone that's read the books (most of my prompt stories are that way), but I tried to make it understandable.
