Yeah, and even if the new codex surprisingly decided to keep the firstborn relevant, the Sternguard sadly lost some of their luster, with not even the stratagem they had making it in.
They're essentially slightly more shooty Intercessors now, though I guess with the newly improved flamer rules, they can be used for some heavy flamer & combi-flamer shenanigans.

I personally have to say, 9th edition feels like the opposite to me. They have addressed a lot of issues and flaws with 8th edition and obviously have listened to a lot of community feedback.
My experiences with the current edition (and the new codex) are mostly positive, really.
