Reclining amidst his pile of pillows, Danathius continued to thumb through the ancient book he had picked up in Firaak's Royal Library. It contained the most dry, dreary and draconian laws pertaining to human treatment in Firaak. Slaves, the lot of humanity was. Little rights had been afforded to them, crushed under the supremacy of the rightful rulers of the land: dragons. Indeed, as Danathius continued to decipher the ancient script, he wondered if humans were even allowed to so much as sneeze without permission from a dragon.
The surface against which the studious mage had been leaning shifted, and a few pillows tumbled down beside of Danathius. He jumped a little, and glanced up to spot the huge, red dragon still reclining near him. Astrix, newly christened King of Firaak, only rumbled gently down at the little human. His elongated, prehensile tail, which was curled around the backside of the human, gave another wiggle. Danathius shifted, and leaned his back against the scaled appendage, finding it warm and comfortable.
"Oh, thank you," Danathius chirped happily, "I hadn't realized just how awkward of a position I was sitting in. My back is going to be sore tomorrow."
"That's not the only part of you that will be sore tomorrow," Astrix said with a toothy smirk. Danathius blushed a deep shade of red and nearly dropped the book in his hands.
"Astrix! You can't just--" Danathius blurted out, but the great red's tailtip coiled around the mage's face, before coming to a rest right on his mouth.
"Oh, shush," Astrix snorted and rolled his eyes, "it's three past midnight, and we're in your private chambers. Besides, everyone knows you're going to be my queen-to-be." The dragon smirked toothily and struck a regal pose, a gesture which only served to fluster the poor, little human further.
"Astrix," Danathius blurted out, cheeks flushed a dark shade of red, "wait a minute, queen?! You're just lucky I love you, you overgrown lizard." Danathius smirked back. Astrix only sighed happily and leaned his snout down to nudge at the mage lovingly.
"Yes, I do consider myself very lucky," he said wistfully, before his attention returned to some large, unfurled scrolls that he had been reading as well. With Astrix as king, both the human and the dragon could now work on thoroughly dismantling the monarchy and old laws of Firaak, to make life better for humans and dragons alike. And the best part was that they could do it together, like this, night after night.

Cute little tale :) I like this world, Firaak, where humans were seemingly just the ground beneath the overlord dragons!
Though, if Danathius's back is going to give him grief, a good heavy warm padded surface pressing down and squeezing out all the tension might help.
