This is redrawing a spot illustration from Bud Sagendorf's book Popeye: The First Fifty Years, an important book to both me and my wife, not to mention us together. Eugene, famously, eats orchids and I'm not perfectly sure that Bud Sagendorf had seen an orchid by the time he drew this but, all right. It's a comic strip, we can be a little loose with things. I've always loved the Jeep and find his body plan a really fun one to draw, even if, like, his legs are kind of a nightmare.
