So one day in class we're asked to find a passage. I literally flipped through the book in a few seconds and found a passage.
my friends didn't believe it so I repeated it a few more times. It's a funny little scanning habit i developed.

I remember my german major class going like this. We had some boring ass social drama and he asks me how this book represents a certain writing style and period ranging from its content.
I start listing off crap I knew from my memory, then compared it to stuff in the book I had read. Then I pretend to search for a passage I read and that would fit, flip through the book, find one that fits and read it out loud.
