The small Aviatik C. I Recon plane flew high above the already low clouds. The plane and her crew braced themselves as their little plane hit another cloud bank. For a spotter, they weren't doing much of a good job dealing with the afternoon European weather.
Just as the Aviatik left the cloudy confines, her pilot immediately spotted the teardrop-shaped "thing" on the ground, maybe even floating. He tapped his backseat gunner, pointing him to the "thing". They both blinked in awe of it, how could something with no wings, no propellor, or any fuselage for that matter, fly? They turned to exchange a worrying glance, maybe it was something the British had, or worst, something they were going to test. The markings on it didn't look RAF, but you could never be sure in 1915. The English were good with surprises.
They both looked down to find the object gone. As if it were a mirage. The pilot slapped himself, maybe out of frustration for losing a target, or maybe out of the sheer craziness of it all. He saw something, he knew it. But what? What could possibly do that.
He had little time to think, as his gunner yelled over the rush of wind and tapped him out of it before letting a flurry of bullets out of his MG. They had more pressing matters to attend to.
So! This is going to act as an intro to the new rework of LTL. I'm going to do my best to explain the lore, but just keep in mind my writing is crappy and I might not be able to convey info as well. Regardless if you have questions, ask! The more the better. (This is only one snippet of lore, there is much more to explore)
So, before there were humans. Before even most life had climbed onto land on our mudball. There were the Protomartyrs. An ancient race of bipedal creatures that you would consider fellow man if you looked at them today. These "Humans" were the first arrivals to the Milky Way, true heirs to what the galaxy had to offer. They grew to be masters of almost everything, bioengineering, engineering, and everything else under the universe. The Protomartyrs however was plagued by a certain unknown phenomenon that forced them to make a great sacrifice.
With their species slowly but surely dying out, they decided to prepare the Milky Way for a new era of humanity. In order for them to continue their legacy, they created a masterplan to introduce a dumber and an inferior version of themselves. Humans that would slowly evolve out of the primordial soup would become the successors to the Protomartyrs. They would develop slower than them, and be inferior in every way except physique on Earth. A specifically picked planet with strategic positioning perfect for a new civilisation. The Protomartys did not see this being enough, and devised a massive gift for humanity once they reached the stars.
This gift would take millions of years to create and finish, with the last Protomartyr humans dying out in the early 1900s. With their gift nearly complete, the Protomartyrs made one last visit to earth to give a final invisible goodbye. With that, like any civilization, the Protomartyrs slipped into the vast void of history.
Alright! Hope this is a good send-off for the new "Few" verse that will be like a soft reboot of LTL. If anyone has questions feel free to ask and ill answer them accordingly. Just do keep in mind I'm withholding some REDACTED info that will be cleared up later with more lore posts.
(P.S. There may be little hiccups here and there and ill probably have to do a couple of edits to clarify stuff. Hope not too many!)

Well, my idea is that the things that make P. Humans separate from humans (i.e big brain idk) is the same thing that's causing their downfall (maybe this unknown kills them off if they have that organ or defect) . So in a way by making modern-day man without that big brain/defect that would normally result in the death of a protomartyr human, making man now is the best they can do.
I'll admit its a crude way of looking at it, but it makes sense at least in my eyes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
