Getting back to more old art new colour ...
So during five years at Hanna- Barbera i got to do some cool stuff...like working on their Droopy series - got to draw Droopy and Red and Wolfie

...sadly, they aimed the show at the five to seven to old demographic and then tossed in horrible colours and well ... needless to say the end result was ...
But it was great fun to draw these classic characters. This was a model sheet from some episode - tossed colours on it this evening - the colours i envisioned waaay back then. Going to paint it up a bit more. Another Droopy group pic in a day or so.
So...my new colours here. So, lame idea here - In the original Droopy cartoons Red was in we had a Dog and a Wolf and a Red...Fox ? That trilogy fits.

i do wish the proportions and volumes were more uniform - the basic Red model sheet by whoever was "not-so-good" (inconsistent etc) and in retrospect i should have gone to the dept head and pointed out that we needed a consistent re-design ... but deadlines and crap scripts inspired a bit of apathy all around ... most of us still wanted to "plus" things (that's the work philosophy of the animation biz : you get a script - "plus" the design elements; you get a rough character design - you "plus" it in clean-up; etc - you always try to improve on the source reference in the initial designs, storyboards, etc - you "plus" it because once it gets into production corners will be cut and a lot of "minuses" will happen....So this was "plus-ing" bad design, but not fixing it, and it then went into a tsunami of minuseseseses.......
