I haven't done creature design in a looooong time, it seems.
This the result of a trip to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I could have spent all day watching the giant tank with the manta rays and whale sharks.
Flappy manta would feed on flocks of small birds, diving in with mouth agape.

Mantas are so much fun! The North Carolina Aquarium has a great exhibit where you can pet them and observe the individual personalities of several tame ones.
I really like this design! The bottom-left sketch is especially good. I like the mouth flaps / jowls. They give it extra personality.
