-AU: Duskverse PT007-
When Violet's luxray had an egg, Davy was overjoyed. To his 5-yrld mind, her luxray was family, which meant this egg was his new little brother, and he told everyone that. Atty, a bit bemused by it all, and with amused permission from Violet, allowed it.
Davy took that egg everywhere with him. He made himself a harness (which was promptly replaced with a proper one by his father) and carried it everywhere. He had his meals with it, took his baths with the egg in there with him, and slept with it in his bed. When it hatched, he was the happiest kid in Hoenn, only topped when he was allowed to name the kit.
Kal joined the family and all was good. Of course, that doesn't quite takes us from normal kid to mix-breed. For as much as Violet and Greene still dabbled in poke-morphing in their youth, Davy was born just like every other child, unlike his counterparts. His mishap happened on a trip to Sinnoh.
Teleporter technology in the pokemon world is about as safe and common as elevators in our own. Well, just as safe, though less common in some regards. After all, every trainer is linked to the region spanning network to whisk away pokeballs into storage. And people transporters? They are a bit costly, of course, but it's not uncommon in large companies in certain regions, and technologically 'advanced' research facilities. Failure rate for them is almost unheard of. For good reason. The safety mechanisms for them are staggering. The only way for something to go wrong is for someone to meddle. And that's what happened.
Poor timing had the family visiting the Global Trade Station, the tallest tower in Sinnoh, when it was attacked by a rather ballsy group attempting to gain profit, and for 2.7mins, Davy and Kal were caught mid transport.
The effects weren't immediately clear, but that time in digital transport limbo, in an emergency buffer system and not the properly optimized storage matrix of the box network, was enough for a two-way biological metacrisis. Some of Kal's biology filtered into Davy, and some of Davy into Kal.
Over time, both changes. For Kal, it was relatively minor. He grew thumbs, going bipedal was a bit easier for him, he gained the ability for easy human speech, but more importantly for him, his mind and brain is a lot more Human
than Pokemon.
For Davy, there were much more noticeable. From the mane like nature of his hair, to the shinx like ears, fangs and eyes, the tail and fur scattered over his body. It wasn't an overnight change, but it happened slowly and progressively.
Violet was very happy to pass him over to Greene when the matter of changes in his pants came up. For all she did have a male pokeform most of the time, he was most certainly 'His Father's Son' at that moment.
Still, Davy grew up with it. The odd one out in the world, but not as much as you'd expect. In a pokemon world, eccentricity is the norm. Still, he's a lot more timid and unsure of himself, and doesn't quite have the strongest will, much preferring to stay off people's radar.
He does get heavy benefits from it though. From being able to understand pokemon, to actually having an Element and the innate capability to tap infinity energy, though weaker than natural pokemon.
He and his brother are still inseparable though, and both are pretty content with the sibling and trainer relationship they have. Even if Kal can beat him in pretty much any non-video game fight they have (and most video game ones too).
Davy's still salty he's just a shinx though. 'Evolving' is still something he wants to do. They are... pretty sure he can technically 'evolve'.
First off... No clue how this turned out so long XD
Secondly: I'm trying something with that tag XD I haven't actually named this AU, so that PT007 is mostly filler XD
Remember how I said I make multiple versions and alternate universes for characters? Davy is one of them. To be fair, I could easily tweak things so he's not a direct counterpart, but right now, like Grae and another character I've yet to post Eme, he's the son of Violet and Greene.
His story is just a bit different that Grae and Eme's is. A marked point being he's not nearly as skilled a trainer as they are, being much more relaxed and low keyed. Rather than being a skilled competitive trainer and/or coordinator in the national circuit, he got a handful of badges and settled down as just a local competitor, and one of city's contracted trainers.
My head-canon is one of the gigs trainers can do for income is basically take care of wild pokemon issues when they come up. Not everyone trains their pokemon for battle, after all. And sometimes your mon might be 'specialized'. Trained for construction or fieldwork, using their abilities in technical and specialized ways. It's a concept I'm borrowing from one of my favourite fanfics on fanfiction.net; 'Ashes of the Past' by Saphroneth.
So, that leaves them less capable to handle dealing with wild pokemon. Think really dangerous animal control. They get called in for things like someone finding a den of ekans moved in under their shed, or help control the wave of magnemite that came with the last storm. Or that adorable picture from Otakuap with the joltik in the junction box.
It helps that he speaks pokemon. He's only really native with feline pokemon and electric types, but he can understand most mammalian pokemon okay, and can manage with the rest.
He's paired, shipping wise, with one of Blueythebattlebug 's characters, Becca. A martial artist who has a lucario as a battle partner. She actually isn't a full time trainer either. Just someone with a pokemon.
This AU for us is basically a more down to earth storyline. Less grant adventures across the region, and more small stake events on the more personal size.

Davy's pretty short for his age, they think he might naturally 'evolve' mid or late twenties and gain a bit more size to him. Current speculation is (assuming his body doesn't change) his hair would just go black.
Kal meanwhile did evolve in his early teens. He's not working too hard for going luxray though. He's comfortable as a luxio. That might change if Davy evolves though. Just to one-up his brother XD
