Temporary reference for my D&D chracter. This is Sniks, a kobold bard (more specifically, a dragon herald).
It's my first time /properly/ playing D&D, so I'm hoping to develop 'em further.

Some backstory:
Sniks was a weird kobold, born with small wings and considered bound to die for it. Not interested in the warren's lifestyle, they decided to go see the blue dragon living in the nearby mountain, and when they got there, they found an empty den. Deciding to stick around to see its return, they found a mandolin and played around with it, liking its pleasant sounds. When the dragon came back a few days after, they found a little kobold making fairly decent music, and amusedly decided to keep them around.
For a few years, Sniks served the blue dragon, called Lapys, playing music for her and guarding her cave, but also talking at length with her and learning to read and write from her. She was a fairly peaceful dragon, one that did not look for conflict with other dragons or races as long as they didn't threaten her territory, and the only time she struck first was when she avenged Sniks's colony, which had since begun worshiping her and had at some point been attacked by a wandering band of orcs.
Then, one day, Lapys told Sniks that she had to do something important, and that she didn't know whether she'd return. The little kobold begged to go with her, but she refused, stating it would have been dangerous for even the strongest and most valiant of dragons, let alone a kobold.
Left alone, Sniks remained in the den, waiting for her, but they started going to the nearby cities to look fo supplies and news about dragons. There, by chance, they started singing of the glorious deeds of Lapys (Born of the Storm, Queen of Thunders, Thunder of the Great Turnica Mountain, Protector and Avenger of the Pdor'Kmer warren, Destroyer of the Kadrega Orcs, Champion of the Haldo Valley, and so on), and soon began earning some fame for themselves, traveling from village to village further each time, all in hopes of hearing news about Lapys and finding her.
Then, one day, they got captured by traders of a ruthless city, and in those cells they found the companions they'd make history with. However, in the end what matters to them is that they found Lapys again, helped her and her brother in their mission to stop the crystalline dragon from the destroying their world, and spent the rest of their life as the faithful herald always by her side.
Design notes:
- "What is gender? Is it food? Or a treasure worthy of a dragon? Would Lapys like it?", "What's in my pants? Me, of course, otherwise they'd be empty!", "Can I make eggs? I don't know, I've never tried and I don't care to!"
- They're smol and portable.
- Bad in melee combat, but I hope you like sound damage and lightning while their friends beat the lights out of you.
- The light blue horns are very sharp, while the blue horns and scales are blunt.
- Tail is prehensible, can sort of use it to play.
- The rings on their horns got accidentally stuck there as they reorganized Lapys's treasure. They could be removed with some force, but they don't mind. Later resorted to wear a headband by twisting it around one of them.
- At one bar they played at, someone jokingly suggested they'd get the attire of a proper bard. They naively believed the suggestion, but they hated it because the uncomfy cloth kept getting stuck in their scales, so kept only the hat, which soon ended up accidentally shredded due to the horns and scales. They saved only the swan quill (which doubled as a pen) in order to keep the general bard look and stuck it in one of the horn rings, but it got ruined during their travels to save the world, and they eventually had to get rid of it.
- They made their necklace with one of Lapys's lost scales they found amongst the treasure after she left.
- They got a new mandolin during their travels, but they still keep the old one in their bag of holding.
- After reuniting for good with Lapys, she got them a new bard hat specifically enchanted to be indestructible, just because she enjoyed the look.
What they play (of course as mandolin remix meme style): Inspire Courage (Sta Andando Tutto Male), Dirge of Doom (A Cruel Angel's Thesis/Zankoku na Tenshi no These), Suggestion (Esce Ma Non Mi Rosica), Rebuke Foes (Immigrant Song)
