Commission for Isaac of his character Cane! The second commission is forthcoming--I just need to add some small details and then I'll be bring it to get scanned at kinko's as well.
I went through quite a hurdle getting this scanned. Both of the pictures are 11x17, so I couldn't scan them on my scanner. In the past I've just settled for a photograph, but I was tired of not being able to show people my larger commissions (especially since I do like to work big), and my friend told me the fedex store did scans and the like. I actually had this scanned yesterday but the e-mail with the file never arrived so I went back today and they let me e-mail it to myself. (: It cost barely anything, so I'll be using it again.
ANYWAY. The sketch was quite old, and I had my doubts (I considered re-drawing it), but ultimately, I decided to ink and colour it and I'm REALLY glad I did because I'm exceptionally proud of this picture. I actually had a concept that I wanted to bring across with the colours. When I coloured the toadstool's stalk, for instance, the intention was for it to look like a peppermint sort of thing, but with the pink swirls like veins. I was trying to capture the sense of decay that the setting (Candyland) has in the commissioner's work. Same thing with the really grotty looking candy canes, etc.
ANYWAY.
