As the Lich King fell, Nevicar's former master's power began to dissipate, giving him back his own state of mind as it happened before when the Forsaken broke off from the Scourge. He could see what he had become, he was a monstrosity, a weapon of the Lich King used for nothing but evil. He had lost all his humanity when he murdered innocent people in the name of the Lich king.

To combat this, he removed the only part of humanity that remained, which was his own heart. Just as his previous master did. Before he left Icecrown to begin his journey to the lands unknown to him, he buried his heart in the glacier in hopes to never be reminded of what he did in his life.

And with that, he picked up the shattered remains of Frostmourne and carried on.
