It's not hard to guess my self-identity, but sometimes it's important to express that identity for no reason whatsoever. It's not always about communication, so much as subverting the expectations people have... in one dimension, that means the very act of disagreeing that sex and sexuality are taboo. In another dimension, and in particular in a heteronormative culture, the simple act of not being the default can shatter the conceptual walls that cage someone else's world.

You don't always have to fight and defend the freedom of expression, or engage in ceaseless conflict over your right to identify however you choose. It's sufficient to be secure in yourself in what you are and who you are -- secure enough that you feel free to express that identity without any reason, or to reach any goal: to be seen and to be witnessed is often enough!
