For an exercise, I'd have to say that this piece looks really good. Really nice shading and lighting. Particularly, I like the amber in the fur, the eyes and the nose for the lighting and shading job you did on those areas.

The eyes and nose coloring is spectacular, as is the rest of the color. I have been getting into pencils and plan on buying a good set. What do you like? Also what did you do this on. I have been using bristol, but think I could be using something better.

Vannie uses Prisma Color pencils. They have a wax strip in them which lets you blend smoothly. Derwent artists pencil colours are the only other kind I've found with that. Not as good pigment, but they break less. Vannie also uses turpiniod to blend without building thick layers of pencil which loses details.

And to Vannie: This is one of my favorite pieces. I love your black wolves. :D PS I miss joo. (this be a certain rainbow feathered thing under a secret name ;))
