This was probably the most unique take on any concept of beauty request I've gotten so far, done by my sister Emily. The original was a couple of sketch-book pages, and because it was difficult to see, I went and lined them digitally. I took a few liberties on the right side, but tried to keep the feel of to the original pages in tact. She gave a lengthy description to go with it to explain, as well!
"My idea of beauty is symbolized in the two intersections of the pictures. The top area represents the new signals we get from the environment. The first intersection represents the beautiful moment when that external stimulus becomes a part of the person. It is now an electrochemical status in their being. No matter how much I learn about this process it always astounds me that we use simple biological organs to transduce information from electro-magnetic waves. Next the signal goes on a journey through our body, reaching the brain. It's who we are which is beautiful. The second intersection represents the electrochemical signal transcending our current understanding and becoming our thoughts and perceptions. I don't think we'll ever truly know how these bursts of electrical current became ourselves. But I'd like to try to find out. The final frame represents our hopes and dreams. Our perceptions of beauty may all be different but what unites them is a sense of something greater than ourselves. Beauty inspires us to work reality into something that so far only exists in our minds.
