Been getting lots of work done lately. got two more largish pics off getting shot and here's something I finished up today.
"Shaman Owl" acrylic on illustration board. I realy must do more anthro owls, they're so much fun. I really enjoyed using ultramarine blue for all the shadows. Prints both regular and jumbo available. Original will be for sale in the AC art show.

The movie is Legend of the Guardian, based on the Guardians of Ga'hoole book series. And yes, even if it predates the movie, it does have a very nice Ga'hoole feel to it.
And the books are ANYTHING but stupid, so no matter what the movie is like, getting compared to Ga'hoole is a high compliment. Carry on!

This picture brings me back to one of the age-old anthropomorphism struggles:
How does a creature with wings handle tasks requiring manual dexterity? Is it that the wings are in addition to actual arms with hands, or is there a happy medium with modified wing structures that allow it without going down the whole dragon/bat thumb-along-the wing design?

This is soooo gorgeous! The wings are very well done and I give you many a kudos for using ultramine for shadows and not black. *applauds* I also agree that you should do more owls, or birds in general. The wings here have fabulous anatomy and this piece just looks stunning overall~
